COMPANY : EXECUTIVES : MICHAEL ROBAN :
Michael is the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Affairs at Stone Village Productions, LLC. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the company, Michael oversees the financing and business affairs of the company and the company’s productions. Most recently, Michael is an Executive Producer of “Penelope” starring Christina Ricci and Reese Witherspoon and the upcoming “Love in the Time of Cholera” to be directed by Mike Newell and starring Javier Bardem, Benjamin Bratt and Giovanna Mezzogiorno.

Prior to joining Stone Village, he was the Executive Vice President of Business Affairs and Operations of Participant Productions, the production and finance shingle created by Ebay founder Jeff Skoll. At Participant, he negotiated and completed deals for the acquisition of numerous properties for development and a major co-financing agreement with Warners Brothers for the motion pictures “Syriana” (starring George Clooney and Matt Damon) and “Class Action” (starring Charlize Theron).

Prior to that, he served for three years as the Head of Business Affairs and Acquisitions of ContentFilm, the motion picture production and sales company headed by Edward R. Pressman and John Schmidt. During his tenure at ContentFilm, he had overseen all aspects of production, sales and finance of films such as “The Cooler” (starring Alec Baldwin and William H. Macy, Lion’s Gate Films, 2003), “Never Die Alone” (directed by Ernest Dickerson and starring DMX and David Arquette, Fox Searchlight Films, 2004) “The Guys” (starring Sigourney Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia, Universal/Focus 2002) and “The Undertow” (directed by David Gordon Green and starring Jamie Bell, Josh Lucas and Dermot Mulroney, United Artists, Fall 2004) and has acquired completed films such as “Wendigo (starring Patricia Clarkson, Magnolia Pictures, 2002), “Interview with the Assassin” (Magnolia Pictures, 2003) for overseas sales. Prior to joining ContentFilm Michael was a founding partner of the boutique entertainment law firm Kauffman & Roban, LLP and acted as counsel for films such as the critically acclaimed 13 Conversations About One Thing (dir. Jill Sprecher, starring Matthew McConnaughey, Sony Classics, 2002) and Lisa Picard is Famous (dir. Griffin Dunne, First Look Films, 2001).

He is also an Executive Producer of the award winning film Secretary (starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader), Happy Hour (starring Anthony LaPaglia and Eric Stoltz) and Steven Shainberg’s upcoming film “Fur” (the Diane Arbus film starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey, Jr.) to be released by New Line Cinema/Picturehouse this coming fall. Michael is a graduate of Union College, Schenectady, NY in 1988 and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1993.
