OCTOBER 11,
2007 - Love in the Time of Cholera Honored at Hispanic Heritage Awards
The 2007 Hispanic Heritage
Awards held in Washington, D.C. on October 11th honored the film Love in
the Time of Cholera – including cast members Benjamin Bratt, Catalina
Sandino Moreno and Laura Harring along with director Mike Newell and
producer Scott Steindorff - for their 2007 award for Arts Achievement.
It is the first time they have honored a film for the Arts award rather
than an individual. Judy Reyes from NBC’s Scrubs hosted the event and
Rita Moreno presented the Arts award to the cast, Newell and Steindorff.
In recognition of the Arts Honorees, the Hispanic Heritage Awards
celebration was launched on Wednesday, October 10 with a special
invitation-only pre-release screening of Love in the Time of Cholera
presented by Stone Village Pictures, New Line Cinema and the Hispanic
Heritage Foundation. This was the first public screening in the United
States, and was introduced by Mike Newell, Scott Steindorff and HHF
Chairman, Dr. Jose Pedro Greer.
